Frost Flowers

These aren't very good pictures as I took them with my dumb-phone (Samsung Rugby II).  But "frost flowers" seem to be have become a popular topic.  They should enlarge when you click, and you can see why growing corn on parts of my property might be a challenge.

  1. Neat! I've seen the ice columns that form under small pebbles in wet clay but nothing fancy like that.

If that is typical of your soil I'll never complain about mine again.

  2. It's on the slope, so it's worse. Up on top there's some dirt mixed in, but about the only good crop you can raise is hay. Grazing land.
