Archie Bites the Dust

I never bought an Archie comic book.  Now I know why.  Archie is shot to death saving his gay friend from an armed stalker.  I wish I were making this up, but you cannot parody a world that is already a parody of reality.  The word delusional comes to mind.

Goldwater notes that Andrews' passing isn't just a publicity stunt but also a lesson about gun violence and a declaration of diversity in the new age of Archie Comics.

I thought it was about selling comic books.  Or maybe entertainment, but, no, the most important thing is making sure people dumb enough to read "Life with Archie" funny books are indoctrinated with the current Textus Receptus concerning gays and guns so that they might become dumber and more docile still.  Hey, maybe the stalker isn't really a bad guy.  Maybe he is just drawn that way.  The character Archie "dies" to save is named Kevin Keller:

In "Life with Archie," Keller is a married military veteran and newly elected senator who's pushing for more gun control in Riverdale after his husband was involved in a shooting.
Because, of course, a newly elected gay senator with a known stalker would not have any armed security around him.  Evidently this fictional fag is more consistent than our real-life anti-gun politicians who demand we disarm but feel the need to cower behind bullet-proof vests and guns in the hands of their bodyguards.

I'll admit that whenever the Archies came on the radio back in the olden days, it was probably a good thing I didn't have a firearm with me all the time.

  1. Sheesh! Not very subtle are they. But this points to a bigger problem I've had with raising my girls. You can't stop the signal. Now I'm just an oppositional old crank in comparison to the zeitgeist they inhabit.

Maybe the Amish are on to something.

  2. Yes, it seems we have to think inoculation rather than quarantine.
